Will the Public Access Counselor be able to tell me where to find the records, or will the Public Access Counselor get the records for me?

No. The Public Access Counselor cannot find records for you or determine what agency may have a record.  The State Information Center @ 800-457-8383 or Chat, can assist in directing you to where you may obtain the information you are seeking or you may call your local library for assistance.

Also, the Public Access Counselor cannot obtain the record for you from another agency. To obtain records, you must contact the agency you believe maintains the record and ask the agency for the record. You should describe the record clearly and submit your request in writing if the agency asks you to do so.
