How do I find what I need on this website?
I know what I'm looking for - How do I go straight to the Sentencing Manual, for example?
On the left side of the page, click on “Publications,” then click on “Manuals,” and select the manual you want. (Clarissa – this may change with the new design)
How do I search the website?
Type your search terms in the search box in the upper right hand area and select “IPDC” from the drop-down menu. Your results will appear in a new page. If you select “in.gov,” you will search publicly accessible areas of all state of Indiana websites.
What if I just want to search through seminar materials?
After your initial search, on the left hand side of your results page you will see a list that includes resources like the case bank, manuals, and seminar materials. You can select "Seminar Materials," or a particular seminar topic to look at just those results.
What if I’m looking for a recent case I saw in the Indiana Defender Weekly Update?
Back on the members’ home page, you can scroll down the left hand side, select “Weekly Defender,” and browse through recent issues of the Weekly Update. Or you can use the search box. Weekly Update items do not show up in the list down the left-hand side of the results page. The best way to search for them is to type into the search box identifying information you remember about the case (i.e., case name, or “prosecutor misconduct”) and also type in “weekly update.”
What if I want to narrow my search?
Scroll down to the search box at the bottom of the results page; type in your narrower search terms, and select "search within results".
Is there a way to display most recent results first?
Yes. Near the top right side of your results page, you will find "Sort by date/sort by relevance." Click on "Sort by date" to pull up the most recent results first.
My search has pulled up a large document - how do I find my search terms?
At the end of each entry on the results page, you will find "Highlighted Search Terms." Select this and you will pull up a version of your result with your search terms highlighted so that you can scroll through and find them. Be aware, however, that the “highlighted search terms” version is not always the most recent. You can scroll through to find where your search terms are, then go back and open the other version of this result to be sure you are reading the most current version.
