What are the different Court Improvement Program (CIP) grants available?

There are three grants: Basic Grant; Training Grant; and Data Collection Grant.

The Basic Grant is available to support programs or projects designed to improve the court process for handling CHINS and TPR proceedings or that provide for the safety, well-being and permanency needs of children in foster care.

The Training Grant is generally used for identifying training needs, developing curricula, and implementing programs for improving the skills and knowledge level of judges, attorneys, and legal personnel engaged in child welfare proceedings, as well as many other innovative and supportive approaches to process improvement.

The Data Collection Grant can be used for developing a computerized case management system specifically for child welfare application, analyzing and implementing court performance measures for child welfare cases, and identifying and implementing policies and procedures to collect and exchange data in child welfare cases, as well as numerous other innovative and supportive approaches to process improvement.
