Why aren’t hearings held in certain IURC cases?
The Small Utility Filing Procedure, available to utilities with fewer than 5,000 customers, is an expedited process aimed at reducing rate case time and expenses – including the costs of hiring attorneys and expert witnesses, which may be recovered through rates. This procedure (explained in more detail at http://www.in.gov/oucc/2368.htm) does not reduce the standard of review or the utility’s burden of proof.
