What is a typical IGR drill day like?

Unit drills are primarily for training and for conducting the operational business of the IGR. Training covers subjects such as the National Incident Management System (NIMS), family assistance, armory support activities, communications, and other facets of the unit mission.

Operation work, also called "Section Work," involves matters of mission planning, personnel records updates, consideration of promotions, and career and performance counseling as needed.

Additionally, formations are usually held at either the beginning or end of drill, or both, to disseminate important information to unit members, and to recognize members and their achievements with awards and promotions.
