What should I do if someone I know is considering suicide?
If you know someone who is considering suicide, do not leave them alone. Encourage them to seek immediate help from a doctor or the nearest hospital emergency room; or call 911. Remove any access he or she may have to firearms or other potential tools for suicide, including medications. If you or someone you know has ongoing thoughts of death or suicide, or a suicide attempt has been made, contact a doctor or go to a hospital emergency room immediately or call 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
