What if my employer terminated or disciplined me without following their written policies?
Employee manuals or other written policies are usually not legally binding on the employer. Regardless of written policies, an employer has the right to terminate an employee for any reason and at any time, without warning or previous discipline. However, if the employer is not enforcing its policies equally for all employees, this could be evidence of unlawful discrimination.
