How is the money from Major Moves being used?

Major Moves 2020 is Governor Mike Pence's plan to invest $400 million in expanding sections of four-lane interstates in Indiana. Heavily-traveled interstate segments initially targeted for expansion are:

· I-65 between State Road 44 near Franklin and Southport Road in Indianapolis

· I-65 in the Lafayette area from State Road 38 to State Road 26

· I-65 between State Road 2 near Lowell and U.S. 30 in Merrillville

Expansion of I-65 in Lake County is being procured along with the Illiana Corridor project. Most Major Moves 2020 work will occur within existing right-of-way, allowing the work to proceed quickly. In most cases, two new travel lanes - one in each direction - will be built in the 60-foot-wide grassy median with a median barrier for safety. In some locations, ramp lanes will be built along the outside of existing travel lanes. Please see Major Moves 2020 for more information.
