Active coal mining operations are private property. They are also very busy and active construction sites. Contact the mine operator for permission prior to entering the property for any reason.

Some state lands are former coal mines while others are private property. Just like active mines, some activities may not be suitable or even safe. If you have questions about a specific area, you should contact the property manager or property owner for permission to visit the land.
